The Chef's Table

The Chef's Table is an intimate, private dining room with open kitchen that is available for groups of 10 to 16 who wish to enjoy a bounteous Italian table in the setting of a fine home.  Extensive menu choices include virtually the entire range of Italian regional cuisine prepared by Jim Rua and his colleagues.  Chef's Table functions are popular occasions for business meetings, family gatherings, dinner among friends and all special events where guests can gather around a single table to enjoy each other and some of Italy's most celebrated preparations.  The open kitchen provides an excellent perspective for guests whose interests include the techniques of Italian cooking as well as the enjoyment of it.  The Chef's table setting provides privacy as well as the opportunity to communicate with Jim and his colleagues for those interested in learning more about the cuisine, travel and other aspects of Cafe Capriccio's programs and services.  Chef's Table activities can be reserved any day of the week.                                              

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Tuscan Room

Cafe Capriccio's Tuscan Room is a private dining area that can accommodate 16 to 40 guests.  With its own kitchen and warm setting, the Tuscan Room is a comfortable environment for dinner meetings and receptions, as well as for holiday parties and family functions.  All of the wonderful menu choices from Italy's many regional cuisines are available in the Tuscan Room, as they are at the Chef's Table.  Tuscan Room activities can be reserved any day of the week.

The following is a description of our private dining process as well as menus, direction sheet and booking form for your event. Please review the attached and complete and return forms where needed.


Private Dining Room Options

Café Capriccio offers two distinctive private dining rooms for your event needs.

The Chef's Table is an intimate, private dining room, with open kitchen, available for groups of 10 to 15 who wish to enjoy a bounteous feast in the setting of a refined Italian household. Extensive menu choices include a wide range of Italian regional cuisine prepared by Jim & Franco Rua and their colleagues. Chef's Table functions are popular occasions for business meetings, family gatherings, dinner among friends and all special events where guests can gather around a single table. The open kitchen provides an excellent perspective for guests whose interests include the techniques of Italian cooking as well as the enjoyment of it.

Cafe Capriccio's Tuscan Room is an elegant Italian style dining environment that can accommodate larger groups of 15 - 40 guests. With its own kitchen, uniquely warm, private and inviting Mediterranean inspired setting, the Tuscan Room is a perfect venue for dinner meetings, receptions, holiday parties and family functions. All of the wonderful menu choices from Italy's many regional cuisines are available in the Tuscan Room, as they are at the Chef's Table. The Tuscan Room can accommodate various table configuration requests including multiple tables, conference set, or "u" shaped set ups.


Menu

Café Capriccio’s private dining experience features our renowned 4-course traditional Tuscan feast including 5 antipasti/salad selections served family style, 1 pasta/risotto course, 1 entrée course, and a Chef’s Choice dessert.  Your meal also includes red and white wine selected by the Chef, coffee/tea/decaf service, soda, and sparkling water. Most clients choose to have a true culinary experience and prefer to have the menu chosen by the Chef.  You may also participate in your menu selection by choosing selections from our private dining menus.  If you would prefer to select your own menu, please email your selections to jcapriccio@aol.com no later than 7 days prior to your event. Menus can be obtained via email from your event coordinator at any time.  If we do not receive your menu selection 7 days prior to your event, we will have the Chef choose the menu for your function. 
 


Cost

The per person cost for our private dining functions is $75 which includes the 4-course meal, wine and other beverages, room, private staff, and a.v. screen if needed. Please note that the price does not include NYS tax (.085%) or standard gratuity (20%). Prices are based on a set package rate and are non-negotiable. Please note that tax and 20% gratuity are added automatically to your bill for all private functions.


Parking

Ample free parking can be found in the City of Albany parking lot located a few steps away from the restaurant entrance on Grand Street.


Audio Visual Equipment

Café Capriccio is happy to offer clients complimentary use of a.v. screens and power cords when requested.
 


Minimum Guests Required for Booking

The minimum group size for booking the Chef’s Table is 10 guests. The minimum guest requirement for the Tuscan Room is 15. If your final guarantee falls short of this number, you would be required to pay the minimum head count fee for your room (Chef’s Table 10 guests @$75 plus tax/gratuity, Tuscan Room 15 guests @ $75 plus tax/gratuity.)


Cancellation Policy

Canceling 10 days or more prior to your event: no fee

Canceling less than 10 days prior to your event : $150

Canceling less than 72 hours prior to your event: $300

Canceling 24 hours or less prior to the start of your event: full charge for event based on room minimum

Deposit

A credit card is required to book your event. No charges will be processed with your card until after your event.


Final Meal Guarantee

A final guest count will be required no later than 5 business days prior to your event.

Café Capriccio is located at 49 Grand Street in Albany, New York just off of Madison Avenue, 2 blocks in on the left. If you would like written directions for your guests, please contact your meeting coordinator to have a direction sheet faxed or emailed to you.  Our website also has a link with a map and written directions that can be downloaded.

Directions to Café Capriccio

Directions from the North:

South on Northway to Exit 7 (Route 7 East) to 787 South. Get off of 787 South at the Madison Ave. Exit (Route 20 West). Travel 4 traffic lights and make a right onto Grand Street. The Café is two blocks in on the left.

Directions from the South:

Thruway 87 North to Exit 23 (Albany) to 787 North to Broadway Exit (stay left as you come down the exit ramp). Make a left at your first light and then another left onto Broadway. Make a right onto Madison Avenue (Route 20 West). Travel up Madison for three traffic lights and then turn right onto Grand Street. The Café is two blocks in on the left.

Directions from the East:

Take 90 West to 787 South. Get off of 787 South at the Madison Ave. Exit (Route 20 West). Travel 4 traffic lights and make a right onto Grand Street. The Café is two blocks in on the left.

From Downtown Albany:

On Madison Avenue East, pass the Empire State Plaza and make a left onto Grand Street (before South Pearl). The Café is two blocks in on the left.

PARKING:

Free parking can be found in the City of Albany Municipal Lot just a few steps beyond the restaurant entrance on Grand Street. The lot is free in the evening to Capriccio customers.

DEADLINES TO REMEMBER

Menu:—please forward all menu selections no later than 1 week prior to the date of your event.

If a menu is not chosen within this time frame a Chef’s Choice menu will be chosen by the Café in it’s place.

Final Meal Guarantees: A final count of guests is required no later than 5 days prior to your event. The Café has a small unique

kitchen that purchases all food on the day of the event and cooks everything to order.

Accurate meal guarantees are crucial to the success of your event.

Cancellations: If you need to cancel your event for any reason, please refer to our FAQ sheet outlining our policy.
